Deformable flexible PCB

A deformable flexible PCB or ribbon cable with connectors, modeled as a thin shell for electronics assembly.

Also called FPC, flex cable, ribbon cable or flat flex cable.

Thin shell

Delivered as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim

How is the deformable flexible PCB modeled?

A flex cable is a thin, flat strip that bends easily one way and not at all in its own plane. We model it as a thin shell with that one-way stiffness, and the stiffener at the connector end as a rigid section.

Widths and connector types follow common board-to-board and ZIF connectors.

Which parts of the deformable flexible PCB deform?

Flex strip
Thin plate that bends out of plane
Rigid parts
Stiffener, Connector

What ships in the USD?

One USD file per variant, with the render mesh, the simulation geometry and a physics material bound to it. Every value is set and named, so you can open it in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and run your task, or read the numbers into your own solver from the material JSON.

  • Thin shell. A thin surface with in-plane and bending stiffness, sealed or open, with contents modeled inside. Used for film, bags, cans and paper.

Where is it used?

  • Inserting flex cables into ZIF connectors
  • Phone and laptop assembly

Questions

Which simulators does the deformable flexible pcb open in?

It ships as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Newton. We also deliver MJCF for MuJoCo and Genesis, a GLB mesh, and a JSON file with every material value.

Can it be matched to our real object?

Yes. Send us a sample, a drawing or a few photos and we set size, stiffness and friction to match your part.

How do we get it?

Choose your simulator, format and variant, then tell us where to send it. We prepare the files and email them to you.

Not in the catalog? We build any object to order, with the same physics and delivery.
