Deformable USB-C cable

A deformable USB-C cable with rigid USB-C and USB-A connectors, modeled as an elastic rod for plug-in, routing and cable management tasks in NVIDIA Isaac Sim.

Also called USB cable, charging cable, USB-C to USB-A cable or type C cable.

Delivered as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim

How is the deformable USB-C cable modeled?

We model the cable as a single elastic rod along its centerline, with a radius matched to the jacket and segment length short enough to hold a tight bend near the connectors. The strain relief at each end is a short, stiffer rod section, so the cable bends where a real one does and not right at the plug.

The USB-C and USB-A connectors are hand-modeled rigid bodies with their own collision shapes, attached to the rod ends. The plug tongue keeps its true shape so insertion into a port model behaves like the real fit.

Which parts of the deformable USB-C cable deform?

Cable jacket
Bends, twists and drapes; keeps a small set shape from coiling
Strain relief
Stiffer rod section that limits bending next to each plug
Rigid parts
USB-C plug, USB-A plug

What ships in the USD?

One USD file per variant, with the render mesh, the simulation geometry and a physics material bound to it. Every value is set and named, so you can open it in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and run your task, or read the numbers into your own solver from the material JSON.

  • Elastic rod. A centerline curve with a radius, and stiffness in bending, twisting and stretching. Used for cables, wires, hoses and ropes.

Where is it used?

  • Plugging into a device port
  • Cable routing and tidying
  • Electronics assembly and device testing

Industries: Electronics, Manufacturing, Household

Questions

Can a robot plug the USB-C cable into a port?

Yes. The plugs are rigid bodies with their own collision shapes, so a gripper can hold the plug and push it into a port model while the rod behind it bends.

Which simulators does the deformable usb-c cable open in?

It ships as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Newton. We also deliver MJCF for MuJoCo and Genesis, a GLB mesh, and a JSON file with every material value.

Can it be matched to our real object?

Yes. Send us a sample, a drawing or a few photos and we set size, stiffness and friction to match your part.

How do we get it?

Choose your simulator, format and variant, then tell us where to send it. We prepare the files and email them to you.

Not in the catalog? We build any object to order, with the same physics and delivery.
