Deformable O-ring
Fitting O-rings into grooves
Assembly lines fit soft parts thousands of times a day: an O-ring into a groove, a seal strip onto a door flange, a grommet into a panel hole. The geometry of these parts is known from CAD. What decides whether an insertion works in simulation is the material: how much the rubber stretches, how hard it pushes back and how much it grips.
We build each part from its drawing or standard size and model it as a volume, with stiffness, damping and friction set for the real compound, such as NBR, EPDM or silicone. Parts that mate with something rigid, such as a hose clamp or a panel, come with that part too.
