Deformable hook and loop cable strap

A deformable hook and loop cable strap that wraps, peels open and closes again, modeled as a thin cloth band for cable management in server racks.

Also called cable wrap, hook and loop tie, reusable cable tie or cable strap.

How is the deformable hook and loop cable strap modeled?

A cable strap is a narrow band of woven fabric, soft on one side and hooked on the other. We model it as a thin cloth band with the stiffness and thickness of a real strap, so it wraps around a bundle, holds its curl when opened and lies flat when pulled straight.

Where the two sides meet, the strap holds together until it is peeled from one end, which is how a robot opens it. We also ship it already wrapped around a bundle at the diameter you need.

Which parts of the deformable hook and loop cable strap deform?

Band
Thin cloth that wraps, curls and lies flat
Hook and loop faces
Hold together until peeled open from one end

What ships in the USD?

One USD file per variant, with the render mesh, the simulation geometry and a physics material bound to it. Every value is set and named, so you can open it in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and run your task, or read the numbers into your own solver from the material JSON.

  • Cloth. A triangle surface with stretch, shear and bending stiffness and a thickness. Used for towels, sheets and garments.

Where is it used?

  • Opening a strap to free a cable
  • Re-strapping a bundle after a swap
  • Cable management in racks

Industries: Data centers, Electronics, Manufacturing

Questions

Which simulators does the deformable hook and loop cable strap open in?

It ships as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Newton. We also deliver MJCF for MuJoCo and Genesis, a GLB mesh, and a JSON file with every material value.

Can it be matched to our real object?

Yes. Send us a sample, a drawing or a few photos and we set size, stiffness and friction to match your part.

How do we get it?

Choose your simulator, format and variant, then tell us where to send it. We prepare the files and email them to you.
