Deformable zip tie

A deformable zip tie with a ratcheting head, modeled as a thin elastic strip for harness bundling and cable management.

Also called cable tie or tie wrap.

Delivered as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim

How is the deformable zip tie modeled?

The strap is a thin, flat rod that bends easily across its width and hardly at all along it, so it curls around a bundle the right way. The teeth along the strap are part of its collision shape.

The head is a rigid body with a one-way pawl, so the strap slides in and stays locked once pulled tight.

Which parts of the deformable zip tie deform?

Strap
Flat strip that curls around a bundle
Pawl
One-way catch that locks the strap
Rigid parts
Head

What ships in the USD?

One USD file per variant, with the render mesh, the simulation geometry and a physics material bound to it. Every value is set and named, so you can open it in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and run your task, or read the numbers into your own solver from the material JSON.

  • Elastic rod. A centerline curve with a radius, and stiffness in bending, twisting and stretching. Used for cables, wires, hoses and ropes.

Where is it used?

  • Bundling a wire harness
  • Securing cables to a tray
  • Packing and kitting

Industries: Automotive, Electronics, Manufacturing

Questions

Which simulators does the deformable zip tie open in?

It ships as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Newton. We also deliver MJCF for MuJoCo and Genesis, a GLB mesh, and a JSON file with every material value.

Can it be matched to our real object?

Yes. Send us a sample, a drawing or a few photos and we set size, stiffness and friction to match your part.

How do we get it?

Choose your simulator, format and variant, then tell us where to send it. We prepare the files and email them to you.

Not in the catalog? We build any object to order, with the same physics and delivery.
