Deformable plastic grocery bag

A deformable plastic grocery bag with handles, modeled as a very thin shell for retail and home robots.

Also called shopping bag, carrier bag, plastic bag or t-shirt bag.

Delivered as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim

How is the deformable plastic grocery bag modeled?

A grocery bag is very thin film with two handle loops. Empty, it crumples into a ball. Loaded, it stretches and the handles narrow. We model it as a very thin shell with low stiffness and give the handles extra stretch.

Loaded versions carry rigid groceries inside, so the bag hangs and swings from its handles.

Which parts of the deformable plastic grocery bag deform?

Bag body
Very thin film that crumples and stretches
Handles
Loops that stretch under load

What ships in the USD?

One USD file per variant, with the render mesh, the simulation geometry and a physics material bound to it. Every value is set and named, so you can open it in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and run your task, or read the numbers into your own solver from the material JSON.

  • Thin shell. A thin surface with in-plane and bending stiffness, sealed or open, with contents modeled inside. Used for film, bags, cans and paper.

Where is it used?

  • Packing groceries
  • Carrying bags
  • Unpacking at home

Industries: Retail, Household

Questions

Which simulators does the deformable plastic grocery bag open in?

It ships as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Newton. We also deliver MJCF for MuJoCo and Genesis, a GLB mesh, and a JSON file with every material value.

Can it be matched to our real object?

Yes. Send us a sample, a drawing or a few photos and we set size, stiffness and friction to match your part.

How do we get it?

Choose your simulator, format and variant, then tell us where to send it. We prepare the files and email them to you.
