How is the deformable stand-up pouch modeled?

A stand-up pouch has a gusseted base that opens so it stands. We model the pouch as a shell with the base gusset built in, and the contents as granular fill that slumps to the bottom and shifts when the pouch tips.

Fill level is an option, since a half-full pouch slumps and topples where a full one stands.

What ships in the USD?

One USD file per variant, with the render mesh, the simulation geometry and a physics material bound to it. Every value is set and named, so you can open it in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and run your task, or read the numbers into your own solver from the material JSON.

  • Thin shell. A thin surface with in-plane and bending stiffness, sealed or open, with contents modeled inside. Used for film, bags, cans and paper.
  • MPM particles. Particles solved with the material point method, for granular fills and materials that flow and keep a new shape.
