Deformable book with pages

A deformable book or magazine with a rigid cover and flexible pages, for library and retail robots.

Also called magazine, notebook or paperback.

How is the deformable book with pages modeled?

The covers are stiff plates hinged at the spine, and each page is a thin shell bound at the spine, so a book opens, its pages fan and flip, and it closes again.

Magazines use soft covers and thinner pages.

Which parts of the deformable book with pages deform?

What ships in the USD?

One USD file per variant, with the render mesh, the simulation geometry and a physics material bound to it. Every value is set and named, so you can open it in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and run your task, or read the numbers into your own solver from the material JSON.

  • Thin shell. A thin surface with in-plane and bending stiffness, sealed or open, with contents modeled inside. Used for film, bags, cans and paper.
  • Articulated. Rigid links joined by revolute, prismatic or helical joints, with limits, damping and springs where the real object has them.

Where is it used?

  • Opening a book
  • Page turning
  • Shelving

Questions

Which simulators does the deformable book with pages open in?

It ships as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Newton. We also deliver MJCF for MuJoCo and Genesis, a GLB mesh, and a JSON file with every material value.

Can it be matched to our real object?

Yes. Send us a sample, a drawing or a few photos and we set size, stiffness and friction to match your part.

How do we get it?

Choose your simulator, format and variant, then tell us where to send it. We prepare the files and email them to you.

Not in the catalog? We build any object to order, with the same physics and delivery.
