Deformable flat-packed box

A deformable flat-packed box for case erecting, modeled as plates with plastic folds along the score lines.

Also called knocked down box, KD box or flat carton.

Delivered as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim

How is the deformable flat-packed box modeled?

A flat box has to be squared up and its bottom flaps folded. We model the panels as plates and the score lines as hinges that start stiff and soften once folded past their limit, the way a fresh crease behaves.

Sizes match the open box sizes, so erecting and packing tasks can share a scene.

Which parts of the deformable flat-packed box deform?

Panels
Stiff plates
Score lines
Hinges that soften once folded

What ships in the USD?

One USD file per variant, with the render mesh, the simulation geometry and a physics material bound to it. Every value is set and named, so you can open it in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and run your task, or read the numbers into your own solver from the material JSON.

  • Articulated. Rigid links joined by revolute, prismatic or helical joints, with limits, damping and springs where the real object has them.
  • Thin shell. A thin surface with in-plane and bending stiffness, sealed or open, with contents modeled inside. Used for film, bags, cans and paper.

Where is it used?

  • Case erecting
  • Squaring up a box
  • Folding bottom flaps

Questions

Which simulators does the deformable flat-packed box open in?

It ships as USD for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Newton. We also deliver MJCF for MuJoCo and Genesis, a GLB mesh, and a JSON file with every material value.

Can it be matched to our real object?

Yes. Send us a sample, a drawing or a few photos and we set size, stiffness and friction to match your part.

How do we get it?

Choose your simulator, format and variant, then tell us where to send it. We prepare the files and email them to you.
