Cordless drill
Driving screws
Tool use is a growing area for dexterous hands and humanoids. Here mass distribution matters more than anywhere: a hammer is top-heavy, a drill tips forward, and a grasp that works on a uniform block fails on the real tool.
Each tool carries a real mass, center of mass and inertia, a collision mesh that keeps the handle and working end accurate, and labeled grasp and functional regions such as handle, trigger, jaw and blade. Tools with moving parts, such as pliers, scissors and drills, are articulated.
